5179 *Job Focus:* The EHS Teacher will support and strengthen the family bond and support the parent as the child’s first and most influential teacher.
The EHS Teacher will assist families to identify and meet their social service needs as well as implementing curriculum plans, conduct screenings, and plan developmentally appropriate goals that promote stages/milestones of development.
This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
*Responsibilities:* * Ensure the health and safety of all children at all times.
* Establish consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with infants/toddlers and their families.
* Maintain compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, ECEAP Performance Standards, and WACs as indicated in the CDCSA Work Plans, Policies, and Procedures.
* Assess children's development levels, and for children suspected of developmental delays participate in the programs screening, planning, and referral process to plan with the families to acquire services in health and special services.
* Work as partners, with families, to develop and implement an Individual Developmental Program Plan (IPP) for their child with goals that correspond to the child’s strengths, needs, and interests.
* Work with children with special needs as noted in the IFSP, and prepare and attend program Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings.
* Assist families in identifying, following up, and documenting the Family Partnership Agreement (FPA) and Conduct a minimum of two home visits, and two on-site conferences each year.
* Plan classroom experiences.
Develop and implement curriculum for classroom routines, schedules, and lesson plans that are responsive to objectives of IPPs, reflect the CDCSA School Readiness Goals, the Creative Curriculum, parental and cultural influences, and mandated elements.
* Maintain comprehensive individual documents for children and their families in the areas of Child Development, Family Services, Health, and Special Needs according to program requirements.
* Maintain strict child, family, and staff confidentiality.
* Work closely with other staff to facilitate effective communication and ensure the quality of services.
* Participate in the clean-up and maintenance of the classroom, office, playground, and storage areas * Assist the Health Coordinator in the completion of medical and dental needs for enrolled children.
* Other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director.
*Qualifications:* * An associate degree pertaining to Early Childhood Education, or an Associate degree in a related field and course work is equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education.
* Ability to obtain a Family Development Work Certificate.
* Must be able to complete 30 hours of STARS training within 90 days of hire.
* Must be able to pass a DCYF Background Check with freedom from conviction of child abuse and neglect.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test screening.
* Have a valid Washington State Driver's License, auto liability insurance, and Reliable transportation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and intermediate to advanced computer skills, including internet and email.
* Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire * Ability to communicate positively with children and families with varying cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
* Ability to lift 50 pounds.
