*THE OPPORTUNITY* Pinnacles Prep seeks an experienced Multilingual Learner and Reading Specialist (MLLR) who will be responsible for supporting the transformation of literacy practices to improve literacy infrastructure and instruction for all.
The MLLR is responsible for working closely with the principal, teachers, and other instructional staff to operationalize and execute Pinnacle's vision for literacy.
The MLLR specialist will lead the implementation of evidence-based practices into classroom instruction and assessment for MLLs as well as emerging readers.
This will include coaching, teacher training, modeling, as well as targeted instruction with scholars.
The MLLR specialist will create learning opportunities that will significantly enhance teachers’ knowledge and capacity and positively impact children’s literacy outcomes.
*MULTILINGUAL LEARNER RESPONSIBILITIES* * Provide targeted academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students who are identified as multilingual learners including newcomers, emerging, progressing and exited MLL students.
* Facilitate all compliance with state and federal program and grant requirements such as intervention reporting and monitoring exited MLL students and Title III students.
* Facilitate all WIDA assessments and comply with funding source regulation * Co-facilitate weekly Student Success Team meetings- providing input and guidance * Analyze MLL data in collaboration with the principal and grade level team in order to provide targeted instruction to small groups during PEAK block * Analyze student assessment results and communicate with student, staff and families * Provide professional development, instructional strategies and support to staff who teach students learning English- supporting and implementing reading, writing, listening, and speaking best practices.
* Facilitate a successful and inclusionary program that adheres to state and federal rules and regulations.
*READING SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Serve as facilitator (i.
e.
, trainer, coach/mentor, and consultant) for the faculty and staff * Collaborate clear goals for professional development of teachers consistent with scientifically based literacy/language research * Deliver targeted intervention to small groups * Assist the leadership for literacy in formulating their professional development goals to ensure that language and literacy instruction is research-based and effective * Serve as an expert teacher of literacy/language development to teach and model effective strategies * Collaborate on timelines and priorities for teacher training and consultation for assigned sites in collaboration with the team * Continue to study new information as it becomes available to remain informed of the most current scientifically-based literacy research * Assist in data collection for progress monitoring and needs assessments * Deliver training sessions on interpreting student and teacher data to inform instruction, particularly progress monitoring data *QUALIFICATIONS* * Current Teacher Certification including Bilingual Education or ESL endorsement.
Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish required.
* Extensive understanding of the science of reading research and best practices * Experience working with small groups of students and MLLs.
* Thorough knowledge of effective professional development including coaching, mentoring in order to coach grade-level team and families to support tremendous academic growth for EL students and struggling readers-using SIOP or GLAD * Extensive knowledge of EL instructional methods and successful literacy strategies * Extensive knowledge of Migrant/Bilingual laws, policies, procedures, and effective teaching practices *COMPENSATION* Salary is commensurate with WA State teacher salaries, depending on experience.
