CLOSING DATE: Open until filled with bi-weekly reviews POSITION: Para Educator SALARY: DOE REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher LOCATION: PSIS, Omak, WA Basic Functions: Under supervision of the immediate supervisor incumbent will assist with individualized and group instruction of students in reading, math, and other instructional areas.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Training: AA preferred OR must be working on an Education Plan within a timeline, OR successfully passed PAXIS test and have a minimum of 32 semester credits or 48 quarter credits.
Requires a valid WA state drivers' license.
Must obtain First Aid/CPR within 30 working days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires ability to adhere to strict confidentiality.
Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.
Requires knowledge of record keeping and reporting (preferred).
Requires knowledge in recognizing that children have individual rates of development as well as individual interests, temperaments, languages, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles.
Requires ability to understand and apply rules, procedures, and policies.
Experience working with and supervising Native American children.
Requires abstaining from use of alcohol and/or drugs throughout employment.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.
In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.
If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
