To outline essential job duties, qualification requirements and working conditions for the position of Recreation Coordinator.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Coordinates day-to-day operations of public recreational programs, events and facilities.
Develops, organizes, implements, facilitates, monitors and evaluates diversified year-round public recreation programs for all ages and ability levels, including educational classes, cultural arts, special community events, aquatics, outdoor recreation, teen programming, camps and programs for specialized populations.
Promotes recreation programs within the community.
Prepares and distributes news releases, public service announcements, program flyers and other promotional materials.
Provides accurate information about programs and services.
Provides excellent internal and external customer service.
Establishes and maintains positive relations and collaboration with the community, staff, civic groups, schools, businesses and media in support of department functions.
Focuses on presenting a positive customer interaction and recreation experience.
Assists department management in assessing the recreational needs of the community and recommends new programs or changes to existing programs based on observed needs.
Trains, coordinates and evaluates temporary and volunteer staff and contracted instructors.
Assigns work schedules and tasks.
May assist with the hiring process.
Answers phones and responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
Registers participants for programs, completes facility reservations and prepares financial deposits and customer billings.
Monitors revenues and maintains expenditures within budget guidelines.
Prepares accurate forms and reports on program activities including participation rosters and health records, budget and grant compliance, incidents and other reports as needed.
Organizes and maintains databases, files, records and other documents.
Researches and prepares grant applications and monitors fund spending.
Solicits donations.
Performs duties in accordance with applicable City, State and Federal safety regulations.
Other job functions: Maintains current desk procedures and tasks to explain position responsibilities.
Creates, updates and implements process improvement procedures, tasks, workflows and systems.
May assist in preparing the annual recreation division budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Works in an office, program and event locations and outdoor setting in all weather conditions and seasonal temperature ranges.
Travels by car, truck or van.
Attends meetings, programs, events and performs other duties outside of normal office hours.
Requires the ability to: Use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety policies, practices and procedures.
Sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
Occasionally reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
