JOB TITLE: MATERIAL HANDLER LEAD I FSLA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: WAREHOUSE REPORTS TO: WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR SunOpta Overview: SunOpta Inc.

Job Summary: MATREIAL HANDLER I: Operate all energized and non-energized Forklift and Palletizing equipment including Forklifts, Pallet Jacks and shrink wrap machines.
Ensure efficient operation of equipment as well as maintaining all paperwork accurately.
Stage production lines with needed materials.
Build orders for outbound trucks.
(Un)load trucks as needed.
Follow written andverbal instructions to ensure quality and efficiency standards are being met.
Assume responsibility for safety, quality, and effective communication relevant to shift and plant performance.
Essential Functions of the Job: • Complies with Good manufacturing practices.
• Read and understand batch/spec sheets.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations, as required.
• Maintain all forklift inspection prior to shift with accurate documentation.
• Read and understand Material Pick Reports (MPRs) • Maintain clean and organized area around equipment • Maintains communications within production team ensuring smooth shift transitions, etc.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties involving area equipment • Pick and load outbound trucks as per paperwork • Unload and put away inbound trucks.
• Support mechanics in appropriate maintenance activities.
• Monitor raw packaging material and supplies to ensure it is supplied in an efficient manor to support production.
• Maintain ingredients and material in a First In First Out basis (FIFO) • Relieve other warehouse team members for breaks and absences as required.
• Accurately prepares and maintains all area paperwork.
• Prepare and stage packaging material and ingredients.
• Participate in inventory cycle counts.
• Must be able to delegate work assignments to operators.
• Ability to receive and properly move, store and scan products between multiple warehouses.
• Responsible for reconciling shipments to and from the third-party warehouses.
• Utilizes the Oracle production/operations tools and wireless handheld computers to correctly issue and scan materials that are consumed for production.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma, or GED; two or more years related experience in a food grade facility.
Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Additional Considerations: • This position will be at the Plant in Omak, WA.
