*SUMMARY* This position performs broad-based construction management duties and assists in engineering design within the Public Works department.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Including the following; other duties may be assigned as needed: *Construction Duties:* Serve as the Construction Office Engineer for County construction contracts - check and assist subordinates and peers in computation of project field notes, material quantities and acceptance in preparation of progress estimates, final estimate and final records.
Insure that various office and construction records and reports are completed in a correct and timely fashion.
Review and process all construction related documentation on multiple projects to assure compliance to the contract plans and specials, all applicable statues and codes, as well as WSDOT and FHWA requirements, as appropriate.
Serve as a Construction Inspector on County construction contracts as needed – interpret plans and specifications for contractors; utilize sound engineering judgment to facilitate necessary changes in the work and to resolve construction conflicts; coordinate deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
Work with contractors to develop schedules and clarify shop drawings, monitor contractor’s submittals for material approvals, sublet requests affirmative action and training programs, wage compliance, etc.
Research and verify contract agreements.

Review plans and specifications for adherence to standard specifications and constructability.
Develop and calculate engineering estimates for construction contracts and County Forces work, including labor, equipment, and materials quantities and costs; assist in the development of effective project scoping estimates and procedures as appropriate.
Perform other engineering and administration related duties as assigned.
