Senior Superintendent
Job Overview
Absher Senior Superintendents are responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project.
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for the success of assigned project(s) with regards to Safety, Quality Control, Schedule, and Profitability.
The position of Senior Superintendent may include responsibility over multiple projects/multiple superintendents including one project you are directly responsible for or it may mean one project with multiple supervisory roles or direct reports.
A significant part of this position is the mentorship and success of other operations personnel, as assigned.
The senior superintendent directs, supervises and coordinates the on-site activities including, but not limited to various trade groups such as carpenters, laborers and subcontractors.
What You’ll Do Participate in operations meeting as scheduled Attend the BD/project procurement meetings, as required Coordinate with project superintendent/assistant superintendent for personnel resource management of field operations team on specified projects Advocate safety and manage it at the highest level.
Be a problem solver by bringing solutions.
Confer with management to provide advice and to resolve problems Know, understand and insure compliance of other company policies Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships Motivate and build teamwork/morale within the project team(s) See that all personnel and company policies are administered in a fair and consistent manner Conduct periodic meetings with teams and communicate successes and challenges to general superintendent – no less than monthly Actively network with current, past and prospective clients, subcontractors and architects Actively network and recruit qualified operations personnel Create a high performing project environment, build effective working relationships across all project stakeholders, represent Absher with the highest level of professionalism, ensure all field work is efficiently executed, and ensures a clean and safe project site environment.
Ensures budget adherence Assist in bidding opportunities and preconstruction services by performing constructability reviews and providing input on costs, scheduling and pre-planning activities.
Keep project management team and general superintendent fully informed on the field status of the project, particularly in regard to costs, schedule, quality, safety and problem issues.
Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Manager, obtaining Owner/Agency approvals Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts Prepare and submit Superintendent’s Reports Attend and participate in project meetings, including leading subcontractor meetings for your primary project and at your responsible project(s) as necessary and requested Lead and ensure adherence to and follow through of the Quality Control Program.
Why You’ll Be Successful 10+ years of industry experience with established, respected position within the construction community, knowledgeable of all craft functions.
Possess complete field construction management skills and detailed understanding of union contracts.
Ground-up commercial project leadership experience such as building K-12 facilities, higher education, hospitals, senior living facilities, YMCAs, mixed-use buildings, transportation stations, or similar Broad, thorough understanding of construction industry Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders with strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
Reads, writes, understands and communicates clearly and professionally.
Maintains good grammar and spelling when writing and speaking.
Efficiently and professionally communicates to all contacts, regardless of position.
Junior College or Vocational education desired Procore and P6 experience preferred OSHA 30 certification First Aid/CPR certification A demonstrated commitment to and promotion of a diverse and inclusive work environment and have a commitment to a safe and injury free work environment through your own actions and mentoring others.
